mb-microtec is a medium-sized company based near Berne.
The staff of approximately 40 is spread over two locations in Niederwangen.  Freiburgstrasse 624 (production) and Freiburgstrasse 634 (administration).

Although the company does not have certification as per ISO, the internal quality management system makes it possible to ensure the highest level of quality.

From the early days...

IIn 1918 two chemists, Walter Merz and Albert Benteli founded the company Merz & Benteli AG. They concentrated on the manufacture and marketing of luminous colours. Luminous colours which at the time had only been in existence for a few years, were mainly supplied to the Swiss watch making industry.
Even then, the quality of the raw materials was of major importance in determining the viability of the finished product. And so it was, that some of these ingredients were procured directly from the pioneers of nuclear physics. (Mme. Marie Curie...). (see certificate)

Finally, in 1968 the “luminous colour department“ of Merz & Benteli became the independent company known today as mb-microtec ag. At that same time the decision was taken to discontinue the manufacture of luminescent compounds (glow paint) and to concentrate
100 % on the then completely new, exciting trigalight-technology. Research and development were focused totally on this new light source, free of the known disadvantages of the traditional luminous colours (chemical disintegration, diffusion of the tritium). Ultimately and as a result of continuous research the trigalight (gaseous tritium light source) was developed in the form in which we know it today.
Completely independent of external sources of energy, mb-microtec ag light sources offer indispensable service to a wide range of both state and private, institutions and industries.
